General & Onboarding
Is Urim Trader free to use?
Yes, the core platform is completely free. You can download the app, create an account, access live NSE market data, read curated news, and use our risk-free paper trading simulator at zero cost. To unlock our deeper intelligence suite—which includes the Market Physics engine, AI Quant Scores, and Monte Carlo forecasting—we offer a premium tier for a small, accessible fee. This helps us cover the intensive computing power required to run these advanced models.
How do I get the mobile app?
The Urim Trader app is currently available for Android. Download the APK from our download page and install it on your device. iOS support is on our roadmap.
Do I need an account to use the website?
You can browse the Markets and News pages without an account. However, the Watchlist, Portfolio, and Paper Trading features require a free account.
Are the stock prices real?
Yes. We stream real-time market data directly from the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). While the prices, charts, and market movements are real, your trades use virtual paper money. This allows you to learn using actual market conditions without any financial risk
Is this real money?
No. Urim Trader is a simulator. You are trading with virtual paper money to learn without risk.
Can I withdraw my profits?
No. Since all trading capital is virtual, profits cannot be withdrawn. They are scores to track your learning progress.
How do I reset my account?
Go to Settings > Danger Zone > God Mode: Wipe Portfolio. This will delete all your trades and reset your balance so you can start fresh.
Trading Mechanics & Market Data
How real-time is the market data?
Market data is sourced from the Nairobi Securities Exchange and updates every 15–30 seconds during trading hours (Monday–Friday, 09:30–15:30 EAT). The ticker tape at the top refreshes every 60 seconds.
Which stocks are covered?
We cover all listed equities on the NSE, including banking, insurance, manufacturing, agriculture, energy, telecommunications, and REITs — over 60 instruments in total.
Why can't I trade right now?
If "Strict Market Hours" is ON in settings, trading is locked to match the real Nairobi Securities Exchange schedule (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM EAT). You can disable this in Settings if you want to practice 24/7.
Why is my buying power lower than my total balance?
Your "Total Balance" includes the cash you have plus the current value of all the stocks you own. Your "Buying Power" is only the cash you have available to make new trades right now.
Are trading hours enforced in the simulator?
By default, yes — the simulator respects NSE trading hours (Mon–Fri, 09:30–15:30 EAT) just like the real market. You can toggle this in the app settings for testing purposes.
How are transaction fees calculated?
Paper trades include a simulated 1% transaction fee (split between stamp duty and broker commission) to reflect real NSE trading costs. This keeps your backtest results realistic.
AI & Analytics
What is the AI Council (TiRex)?
TiRex is our ensemble AI system that combines XGBoost (gradient boosting), LSTM (deep learning), and zero-shot LLM analysis. Each model votes on a BUY/SELL/HOLD verdict, and the results are fused into a single confidence score.
How does Monte Carlo simulation work?
We run 1,000 simulated price paths for the next 30 days based on the stock's historical volatility and drift. The resulting "cone" shows the 90% probability range — where prices are likely to land with 90% confidence.
What is the Physics Engine?
The Physics Engine applies fluid dynamics principles to price movement. "Tension Score" measures how far a price is from its equilibrium (like a stretched spring — high tension often precedes reversal). "Reynolds Number" classifies flow as Laminar (smooth), Turbulent (chaotic), or Stagnant.
What is Market Memory / PTSD Analysis?
This uses the Hurst Exponent to detect if a stock is "traumatized" (mean-reverting, choppy) or "trending" (momentum-following). A Hurst value below 0.4 indicates the stock is recovering from shock; above 0.6 indicates a locked trend.
What is the Quant Score?
It is a health rating (0–100) for a stock based on math like RSI and Volatility. A high score (above 70) often indicates strong momentum, while a low score (below 30) might mean it's oversold.
What does the 'Trauma Score' mean?
It measures how "panicked" a stock is based on recent sharp price drops. A high score means the stock is currently volatile or recovering from a crash.
Technical & Troubleshooting
Why is my graph flat?
This usually happens when the market is closed, data hasn't updated yet, or you are offline. Check your internet connection or try refreshing the page.
How do I export my trade history?
Go to Settings > Data & Reports and tap Export Trade History. You can save it as a CSV file to analyze in Excel or Google Sheets.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Go to Settings > Support & Legal > Report a Bug. You can send us an email directly with details. We appreciate your feedback!
What is the Compare feature?
Compare is a web-exclusive feature (not available on mobile) that lets you analyze 2–4 NSE stocks side by side. You get normalized performance charts, RSI comparison, AI insights, and a unique 3D visualization mode.
What does the 3D view show?
The 3D chart renders each stock's 30-day normalized performance as a separate "path" in 3D space. You can rotate, zoom, and inspect the lines to see crossover points and divergences from different angles.
Account & Security
Is my data secure?
Yes. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, sessions use JWT with 15-day expiry, and all API communication is over HTTPS. The mobile app uses biometric authentication and anti-tamper protection (freeRASP).
Can I sign in with Google?
Yes! The mobile app supports Google OAuth sign-in for convenience. Traditional email/password registration is also supported on both web and mobile.
How do I delete my account?
You can permanently delete your account from the Settings page in the mobile app. This removes all data including portfolio history, watchlist, and trade records. This action is irreversible.
